“Johnny Cupcakes” is this year’s Business Enrichment Speaker at Casper College
(Casper, Wyo) – Johnny Earle, founder of the highly successful Johnny Cupcakes, the world’s first t-shirt bakery, will be the speaker for Casper College’s 2015 Business Enrichment event on Tuesday, Sept. 29 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
“Johnny Earle will discuss his business adventures and techniques during his presentation and those attending will learn why thousands of customers from around the world have chosen to get the Johnny Cupcakes’ logos tattooed on themselves, why hundreds of people will camp outside his fake bakeries, and how Johnny Cupcakes has grown from a ‘joke’ to a multimillion dollar, highly exclusive t-shirt brand driven by a community of world-wide collectors. This will be a terrific opportunity for those in business and those thinking about opening their own business to learn from one of the top entrepreneurs in the world today,” said Lesley Travers, dean for the Casper College School of Business and Industry.
“A food themed clothing brand was weird to many people, but weird is good; it gets people talking. I started making Johnny Cupcakes t-shirts that poked fun of pop culture, replacing known references with cupcakes,” said Earle. “My presentation (will) provide blueprints for getting any small business, passion or idea off the ground, while also expanding the way existing creators think,” Earle noted.
Currently Earle has five actual stores that sell t-shirts in a bakery-like setting as well as a successful online store and what Earle refers to as “our traveling one-of-a-kind pop-up shops. Our bakery aesthetic is so convincing, (down to the smell of vanilla frosting), that customers are usually convinced they are walking into a bakery expecting to get a cupcake. My inner-jokester still gets a kick out of fooling hungry shoppers. Cupcake or not, customers usually leave with a t-shirt or a great story,” he said.
Earle’s presentation will take place in the Wheeler Concert Hall located in the Music Building on the Casper College campus. Light refreshments and hors d’ oeuvres will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. Both the refreshments and presentation are free and open to the public. For more information call 307-268-2494.
